Financial System Adapters

Financial System Adapters are Business Adapters to systems well know in financial industry.

Overview

Financial System Adapters import data into or export data from financial business systems.

Technical considerations

Business Adapters work on top of a technical adapters (e.g. FTP, MQ-Series, SAP JCO, JDBC, host socket, etc.). They differ from technical adapters or APIs by:

• Defined business data structures and data types
• Business logic
• Mappings to StepStream's Financial Repository

Delivery and Customization

Financial System Adapters are provided in a basic configuration reflecting the default customizing of the associated business system. They usually have to be customized to meet the customers needs, i.e. the concrete customizing of the business system at the customers site. This is usually done by StepStream or an implementation partner, but can also be done by the customer himself.

Customization efforts comprise:

• Initial configuration steps (server addresses, etc.)
• Customization of values and value mappings (e.g. country codes)
• Structural mappings for special customer extensions

Questions and Answers

Can a Business Adapter be used standalone ?

Yes and no.

Although technically possible, an adapter is actually just one endpoint of a P2P connection or a hub: it gains its full functionality by the business logic, which normally requires a mapping to StepStream Financial Repository.

However there may exist special environments where standalone operation is sensible. Contact us for further information.
