Yet Another Flatfile to XML Converter

StepStream Suite provides a variety of tools to interconnect systems on a technically and business basis. We decided to extract some tools and libraries from the suite as standalone products. YAFX as our Flatfile-to-XML converter is the first in a series of tools - stay tuned.

Why another Flatfile-to-XML converter ?

Hardly any Flatfile-to-XML converter is available as standalone tool or library: the existing ones usually have to be used interactively or as component of an integration engine. Further on complex formats usually can't be handled by those converters. We felt it was time to extract our converter from the suite and make it available to the public at a competitive price.

What about the other direction: XML-to-flat? Use XSLT instead !

XSLT is a well-know W3C standard suitable for a variety of problems. YAFX is not aimed to compete with XSLT. Instead it helps to handle large files, strict flat formats (e.g. fixed-length) and applications where bidirectional conversion is necessary.
